Your CSA experience

Now that my first year being a member of a local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) has come to and end I am reflecting back on how for me this was so much more than a resource for organic fruits, veggies, and flowers. My weekly pick-ups, which always included varieties that were new to me, a chance to stop and talk to neighbors that I knew and get to know those that I didn’t, but most importantly watch and be a part of how other farmers/gardeners designed and layered their fields and gardens, it was amazing. I wonder what was your CSA experience like? Katy

Didn't even know what it was but now I do. I'll be doing it this year for the first time. Splitting the lowest cost option w/ a neighbor just to see if I like it. We also have a wonderful farm nearby (the last in Nassau county) where we get all our produce during the growing months. Can't wait for summer veggies!

Hi Katy,

We have a csa here but I grow most of the same stuff so we don't buy a membership.

BTW, where are you in mass with z7a? I have heard people claim that our area is z7a but I believe it's wishful thinking. Winters are often very mild but spring is equally often very retarded, so I don't think the growing season is equal to a true 7a, on average. Hence my 6b.
