| I live in an apartment but I have a fairly large terrace so I was wondering if it would work to take a non-inflatable (vinyl, frame,etc...) swimming pool, drill drainage holes in it and fill it with dirt to use as my "Backyard Garden". |

| If the apartment and terrace are your own - no problem, perhaps. However, all that drainage can lead to stains on the terrace material (and on to water blasting or serious scrubbing to reduce the hazard of slipping on moss/algae) You'd likely have the same issues with a raised bed made from bricks or concrete or logs. (Think resale value and taking on work you don't need :-))) ) What do you yearn to grow? If you scamper over to the Container Gardening forum you'll be able to see and read about heaps of ways to garden without a regular dirt garden - and how to have it succeed for you, regardless of your climate zone. Conversely, you might just choose to invest in some large and elegant pots and use them as landscaping features on your terrace with a mix of hardy durable plants and annuals for change and colour. Hope that gives a lead. |
