Yesterday the thermometer on our deck read 61 in the afternoon. Surely winter will arrive, right?

Well, one advantage of the warm weather yesterday was that I could bring in the extension cords for the Christmas lights and actually coil them. In colder times it's like trying to coil a steel rod.

I'm waiting for the icy shoe to drop.

61� here too. We've had rain, so the soil is very moist. At least here in Providence I don't think drought is an issue, at least not yet. I do not miss the snow, sorry ski buffs! I know we all expect that we will pay dearly later for the beneficial weather that we've enjoyed so far, but maybe we won't. Maybe we will just have a mild winter and that's fine with me. Snow is, after all, a four-letter word!

Personally I'm enjoying this mild winter. I was able to remove my reindeer and candy canes from the lawn. Best of all, I was even able to remove the stakes the candy canes sit on. Normally I'm crawling around on my hands and knees looking for the stakes in April! Last year I still had Christmas decorations up in early March - waiting for snow to melt so they could be removed.
