I'd still love to do this. I'm not in a garden club, but I'd be happy to host a GW get together if people wanted to come to the cape for this kind of activity. Or, if someone nearer to Boston wants to have this at their place, I'd like to come.

Or, maybe MassHort or one of the nurseries ... like Avant Gardens ... would like to hold a workshop like this?

Last time I had class at Smith Hawken store in Georgia, I had to help to sell thir pricy products.( I din't want to) To make koke dama or moss bonsai,Plants can be weeds or seeding of own yard or from wood, or buy 4" pot plants which able to devide into small 4~12 plants.Nursery is not going make lot's of money to host class.
Cost of making koke dama or moss bonsai are very small.
To enjoy gardening don't have to be expensive. Every where I look for gardening class,they charge lot's of money.
To enjoy nature, companionship with fellow gardeners sharing knowlege should not be expensive.
Koke dama/moss globe, moss bonsai are good for
1) People who don't have big yard,
2) people who don't have physical strength
3) people who work under high presure
4) people who has limited budget.
5) It is relatively easy to make, but it have lot's of
room for artsitic creativity.

I live in hot and dry Colorado, is there a substitute I can use for the green moss? Was thinking of just dried moss on the outside or is there another plant I can use? Looking for options, love the look of kokedama!

No and no. At least it didn't happen as far as I know.

I DO have a lovely moss brick, but it occurred without any help from me (other than leaving a brick in the shade near some moss).

I was so hoping that this get together did happen and there would be more wise words of learned experience that I could benefit from.
