I found some!

I haven't gotten out to look. There are very few bare spots without snow and none of those have crocus planted.

Compared to more recent winters, this has been different because normally I will have some bulb foliage showing by now. I don't expect I will see any once the snow melts either, but, maybe as soon as we get a few warm days.

Too much snow to tell yet. I've got some planted near the street where the snow is slowly receding, so I'm hoping to see some soon!

I don't have crocuses yet. They are still under a fair amount of snow.

The pussy willows are out, though. That surprised me because the base is under about 2 ft of snow, but there is life up in the air.

My outdoor crocuses were eaten by voles, and my indoor crocuses this winter sprouted and never produced a single bloom. So crocuses are a washout for me.

I will have to have a look at my pussywillow bushes to see if any catkins are developing. I think it is probably a bit early here though.

No crocuses here yet, but they tend to sneak up on me and appear overnight in mid to late March. I'll check tomorrow but if we get snow overnight they'll be buried.

My pussy willow is close, very close to furry catkins.

Are we there yet?

First crocuses yesterday, March 22, 2014! This is how they looked today when they were up a bit more. They were more open earlier today but by the time I got the camera out they were beginning to close up for the day.

They'll probably be buried in snow Tuesday night when the latest storm arrives.

Didn't get any pictures, but on a lunchtime stroll through Cambridge last Thurs when it was warm, I saw my first blooming crocus, snowdrops, and iris reticulata, all on the sunny sides of streets, close up to buildings. I consider it my early-warning signal that, yes, indeed, spring will come, eventually.

Yes! Yesterday, I went to work, and there was nothing. Then in the evening, I came home, and all the crocuses on the slope in the lawn going down to the street were in bloom! I hadn't even noticed they were up, so to see them in bloom so suddenly was a wonderful surprise!

Of course, tonight the temperature is about 40 degrees lower, and snow is in the forecast....

My yellow ones have been in bloom for a few days, and others are showing foliage. But they'll be buried under snow by tomorrow!
