Any of you in southern CT use Orange Fence?

I am considering using Orange Fence to install a cedar privacy fence in my yard. Their usual method of setting the posts is NOT setting them in concrete. Now this is new to me! They said that the posts tend to rot quicker because the water gets in between the concrete and the post and sits there causing the post to snap. They just want to pack dirt in around the posts. I can't bring myself to getting a vinyl fence. Thanks, Richie

Hey Richie,
My husband says it's quite common these days to intstall wooden fence posts directly in the dirt. He said the only time you might need concrete is for special situations - like if you can't sink the post deep enough (2 feet).

They're not making this up; concrete is rarely used for fence posts any more, even by the priciest installers (e.g. Walpole Woodworkers).

I'm with you on vinyl - not a good material for fences.
