The CT Swap has in recent years been held in Wolfe Park in Monroe, in the pine grove where there's good parking and picnic tables to put plants on. I'm assuming it will be there again this year. (Depending on where you are in SE CT, that might be a hike for you... ?)

If you have plants to swap, they are always welcome (as are you, whether you have plants of not!) -- people often post lists of what they expect to have available. Others may post requests (plants they would love to have if someone happens to have some to divide). We do try not to go crazy "reserving" plants (partly because sometimes best laid plans go awry but also because for a lot of us, finding unexpected treasures on the "freebie" table is half the fun!)

If someone requests one of your plants, you should mark it with their name (and the plant name, of course). Then the idea is to find that person (hopefully wearing a name tag with both their real name and their GW screen name) to hand off the plant. Plants you bring but are not spoken for in advance go on a big table free for the taking. Don't feel you have to know the botanical names (though it's nice if you do) -- just mark it with the common name (or what you think the common name is if you know), the size and color of bloom... whatever might help someone decide if they want to try it. (On a personal note, I would say please try not to bring anything on the state invasive plant list -- I'm still trying to rid my woods and yard of invasives, so would much appreciate not bringing home any new ones! Other people may not feel as strongly as I do on this point...)

However... you definitely don't have to bring any plants if you don't have any (or like many new gardeners, don't have any you are ready to divide) -- you can just come and visit with us, get to know everyone (bearing something chocolate is often wise... :) We usually aim for an 11 am start on a Sunday, and everyone brings food.

Basically, it's a fun gathering twice a year that most of us wouldn't miss for the world! Good friends, good food, and some GREAT plants! We hope you'll join us!
