My Gaura lindheimeri/wand flower 'The Bride' is sending up new growth and I'm tickled pink!! It's hardy to Z5 plus it was grown from seed via winter sowing and those plants are tough as nails but I've had my fingers crossed since it went dormant last November. It's an absolute blooming machine that thumbs its nose at drought, doesn't need deadheading or pruning and the tall, slender stems sway with the slightest breeze.

I have plant labels stuck in the dirt to remind me where I planted things until they get some size to them. I still managed to step right on top of some seedlings just emerging from the frozen soil however. Oh well, just one of the hazards of a cottage garden I guess.

Yes, when I saw it I got the plant labels and put them where other forgotten treasures are emerging. I'll bet money 80% will be gone bynext spring.
