Aphids on my Japanese Maple

Sorry, Newbie gardener. ;) Should I be worried?

I believe they are aphids. I tried to take a picture but I couldn't capture the image without it being blurring - I am trying to avoid digging out my camera and charging it so I can use the macro mode. So I googled - they are black, teeny tiny, clustered on the leaf buds (it hasn't begun to leaf out yet.) I rubbed some onto my fingertips, they are soft, and definitely alive LOL.

Should i spray it? Or let it be? If I should spray, what do you all think I should use? TIA for any advice you can give me. :)

i always just use water from the hose to get them off.

Always just use water for aphids here too. I'm actually happy that once I see aphids, very soon I see my first lady bugs of the season and a week later I can't find an aphid.

But from your description, I am not certain those are aphids. You might want to dig out your camera and post a photo to be sure.
