Anyone's red hot poker plants up yet? I put in one last year and it hasn't come up yet? I had one a few years back and it came up for 2 years and never came back so I tried it again and it doesn't look like it made it this year either. Thanks.

Mine is up. I've had it for at least 2 years. It's growing in a very dry rocky area.

I have been in love with Kniphofia for the last few years and have them planted in soil with good drainage which seems to be a requirement for success with this plant. Mine are somewhat evergreen but have become less and less vigorous over time. I would love to know if there is something I can offer to convince them to stay around a bit longer. I wonder if it is related to soil ph?
