Old bulbs will they bloom

I have a ton of canna, elephant ear and misc. bulbs in my basement. Due to a lot of traveling last year because of family health issues, I never got them in the ground so they sat in the basement in paper bags. Will they bloom if I put them in this year or should I toss them? They have always done very well, but I have never gone a year without putting them in the ground.

Anyone else ever had any luck with this?

I'd take a chance and plant them. You may be surprised at how resilient they might be. Give them them ample time though because any living parts may be small and deep within the bulb. What have you got to lose? A little effort? Even if you throw them all in a few trenches and rescue them for next season it would be worth it.
