I have very old (30+ probably) rhodies, with an upper story of eastern white pine. I have lost dozens of plants over the years to the pines and rhodies sucking up all the moisture and dropping leaves/needles. Any thoughts about something evergreen that will survive shady, somewhat dry conditions--other than hostas? Our water bills are horrific and probably about to get much worse thanks to the pipe repairs in Weston, so things need to be a bit drought-tolerant.
