Claire, I think it's too early yet for Gooseneck loosestrife to be blooming in the OP's zone 5 garden. My ND neighbor has it and his is barely up.

Campanula, it looks like you are correct. It also has an Alba cultivar for my white garden. Now I just need to track down an affordable source & learn more about it
