Cleome/Spiderflower

It's an annual. Available at most nurseries. Prolific self sower. Those little green pods you see are the seed pods. Wait until they turn brown and then you can collect the seed. Also comes in white.

Yep, cleome (pr. clee-oh-may). It's an annual & generally grows pretty tall. Sort of outer-space looking if you ask me but does offer flower & foliage contrast in the summer garden.

One reason I don't grow it is because it's an annual plus it gets too tall to blend in with other things growing in my garden beds.

I was amazed that so many kind people offered help in such a short time.
I think I know every kind of flower seeds available in Home Depot, Lowes, and Mahony's Garden. I never saw the seeds of Cleome on sale there.
It is actual my first time to see the word "Cleome".

In past years I have seen cleome seeds in Walmart, K-mart, True Value Stores, and Home Depot.

I haven't been to any of the stores this year, so do not know what is there this year.

There are several varieties of Cleome plants, some fairly short and others that are extremely tall.

Certain nurseries also offer plants in spring. I know that they had them last year at The Farmer's Daughter, but I haven't been there yet this year. There are several varieties, and now that you know the name, you may also be able to find seeds of many types online.
