Farewell to a tree

We had tree work done this week. We had to remove the silver maple in the front yard due to our solar panels. While we had the tree guy here, we also removed 6 whitepine and 2 invasive ailanthus. It was quite a site to watch. Especially the removal of the ailanthus in the backyard.

We had a cherry picked and a crane. Most of the trees were taken down in 2 cuts - first the tree top and then the trunk.

Scoping out the ailanthus down by the pond.

The red thing is the hoist of the crane - the climber uses the cable and hoist to get to the tree top if he can't use the bucket truck.

Here he is getting up to the second ailanthus.

The top of the ailanthus is secured, the climber is cutting off the top.

Up comes the tree top.

Over the roof of the house

And down in the side yard to be limbed and chipped. You can see the pile of pine trunks in the background - from the 6 pines that were removed.
