Wow, Idabean, I see what you mean. That is one helluva garden. So beautiful, floriferous and even has a water feature. I am impressed. And I see why you could end your days there. Should be all pitch in and buy a house there? :-)

Ditto, OMG! Renee's garden is beautiful. Did you see the size of the Martha Washington Geraniums? (about the size of my azaleas) I would never leave the yard if I had a garden like that to wander through. Thank you both for sharing the link.

It is beautiful, but, taking climatic zones into account, I think your garden is just as beautiful Marie.

I agree it's very beautiful! However, I would not end my days there. I want to be somewhere connected to nature - including the native habitat and species of where I'm living. That garden could be anywhere - England, New England, Canada, or southern California. I wonder if there is a single southern california native growing on that property.

How much water does a garden and yard like that require in the (semi)desert? I believe the agriculture and landscape in that region are supported by irrigation, not natural rainfall. Such landscapes may not be sustainable as natural resources, particularly fresh water, tighten going into the future.

And I agree with WG, spending your last days in your own garden Idabean, is a perfectly viable option!

Aw Shucks. Gee Whiz. Thanks. I don't think I could relax enough to die in my garden. I'd be thinking about what I have to weed, and projects I didn't finish. However, with my hospice experience, maybe accepting the garden "as is" and "unfinished" and still beautiful in the moment would be my spiritual work before kicking the compost bucket.

Marie, I bet the owner of that garden considers it "unfinished" too. I don't think a real gardener ever "finishes."

I love all the photos. I'm a renter so containers and a postage stamp for me . I already have neighbor envy. Now I can add zone envy and photo envy to that list ha ha.
