I am trying to think of something that could be started now to guarantee a nice cut flower in two months and I am coming up blank. Hydrangeas or Hybrid tea roses, perhaps? You could buy several plants on sale and nurture them until then. But even then, you can't control for exaact timing of buds, disease, and other factors. Maybe someone else on here will have suggestions. My two cents is this: If flowers for your wedding are of importance, maybe you could order some blooms online and arrange them yourself? I was in a wedding a few years back and the bride did just that and it worked out well. Or you could check out local farmer's markets and let someone else do the growing work for you. Is it an outdoor wedding and you are looking for what to plant in beds or are you looking for cut flowers?

For cut flowers, I think the suggestion above is great. For your garden, at this point, your best bet might be some nice, tall annuals. Perhaps things like cosmos and cleome. They are substantial with lots of blooms. I think they should kick in somewhat by early August (I am south of you, though). There are plenty of perennials that bloom then, but if this will be their first year in the ground, they may not be as dramatic as you would hope.

Honestly, you should have planted a garden for this August last spring. The best you can do now is bombard the beds with everblooming annuals, keep everything watered and dead-headed until then and pray for the weather to cooperate.

Good annuals: cleome, nicotiana, cosmos, coleus and impatiens for any shady area. Dusty miller is a nice silver foliage that adds a lot of contrast.

you have a wonderful resource up there- rocky dale nursery in bristol. call and ask them for help. maybe they would even rent you some of their great display plants for the special day.

You are a brave lady to try this...but a previous poster is correct..you are a little late to get this done for THIS Aug.
