Help with my crown imperials!!

Hi, I just dug up my beloved crown imperial bulbs because they have produced stems and no flowers for the past 2 years. (Frittering away!) I believe that I need to get them back in the ground fairly quickly and am pondering whether to return them to the same spot or another. Does anyone have any suggestions for revitalizing the bulbs?

There are more than I planted originally, but they are smaller. I have 8, would have been 9 but I cut one with the shovel. My plan is to make a compost bed and add a bit of old manure and a little lime. If there is anything else I should do, particularly to keep them going if they do start flowering again, I'd love to hear it!

There was a nursery near here that had huge ones in their display gardens. But unfortunately the man died several years ago so I can't get his advice any more. :(
