I have had dodder appearing on my stream bank now for 5-6 years....in spite of soil erosion from the stream. I've lost a good 2 feet. Some years it seems worse than others. I stopped planting nice shrubs at the edge because of the dodder. When I originally researched it, the source said that once you see the organge vine on the plant, it has already detached itself from the seed in the ground.....so I just picked it off as best I could and the shrubs did just fine but like I said I just gave up and all those plants are now history.

At least you can kill poison ivy and other invasives (I sometimes have loosestrife and mile=a=minute near my astilbe but are easily removed. My area is designated 'wetlands' and constitues 'vernal pooling' so the floods several times a year brings all sorts of crap up onto my lawn and plants. Oh, the joys of gardening :)

But I am so sorry to hear you have found this an issue on your land!!! You might contact your local/state agricultural divison for local information about treatment.
