Does this plant do well in CT ? I was wondering if it blooms around the time of rose-of-sharon shrubs?

It is one of those plants that loses its top growth but is root hardy. I got one late last season here in MA and it came back fine. Its about 3'-4' tall now.

I can't say if it is timed exaclty with ROS, but its definitely on the late side of the season.

I can't confirm its blooming time in reltion to the RoS cause I don't grow RoS, but my lespedeza starts blooming now and will continue to do so for about next 3 weeks.

this plant was just featured and sold at Tranquil Lake(z.6) summer workshop/open house day. Great for hot sun/drought conditions/ late season interest. i picked one up to add to our other lespedezas and indigoferas.

featured in that fab baystate perennials newsletter.....
lovely place, good people.

Lespedeza thunbergii ‘Gibraltor' A glowing deep lavender
selection to 5', zone 5. Usually killed back to the ground in winter in
zone 5, but regrows with great vigor into a graceful, fountain-shaped
shrub. Blooms profusely in late summer at a time when color in the
border is much appreciated. Grow in full sun, in ordinary, well
drained soil.

aw shoot... during cleanup while I was zoning out, I cut this guy down. I think I was not supposed to do that til the spring, like butterfly bush. Do you think it will be ok?

btw, this was my 1st full year with it and it was really great. Bloomed for a long time. It got about 4'x4' from being cut down to the ground in the spring.
