It's a balloon flower. I don't know the actual variety.

Very nice, and perennial. They do spread a bit, if you don't deadhead them. On the other hand. they bloom for a really long time, if you cut off the spent flowers ... so I try to cut most of them, but always leave a few towards late summer.

Mine are all blue - I love the blue streaks on yours.

Lazy S'S Farm has them in pink too, which I didn't know about, and also has some balloon flowers with double flowers.

Your Mom's flower with the blue veins may be Platycodon grandiflorus 'Fairy Snow'.

"A stunning small Balloon Flower with white blooms and blue inside veins. A dwarf form but with 1 and 1/2" standard size blooms which appear singly or in small clusters on top of the stems. If deadheaded (so it doesn't set seed) it will blooms\ for month and months."

Add my vote for Platycodon grandiflora/balloon flower. I have blue, white and pink varieties in various garden beds and love, love, love them every year (as do the bees). They're so reliable, low-maintenance and apparently critters/bugs don't like them. Any that grow too tall and flop get whacked back in June to control height. The cut stems ooze a milky sap after being cut.
