wild guess ... cosmos?

I'd say cosmos as well, sure looks like mine. The tall cosmos varieties and there are lots and lots of them, bloom their best towards late August and well into the fall when the temps get cooler.

You should have a beautiful display from that one plant.

They don't like much fertilizer and once the seedling is established, and this one sure is, they don't require a lot of water either. great draught resistant plant.

post a pic again when it starts to bloom. we might be able to tell you what variety of cosmos you have.

It looks exactly like the foliage of my tall pink and deep rose cosmos that I plant each year from saved seed, but it looks taller than mine. Perhaps it didn't have enough sun to bloom before, but hopefully it will now!

I agree with cosmos, which had reseeded for me in the past. You'll know soon when flowers appear.
