Ahhh - mushroom season at last!

Oh, I thought this was slug season. Our reprieve is over, as far as these slimy little monsters goes!

I'm just north of Concord, and when I checked our rain gauge around 3:00 we'd had 1 1/2 inches of rain. I don't think I've ever seen this stretch of the Merrimack River as low as it was last weekend so I know we seriously needed it. Happily we got 1/2 inch on Monday, enough to moisten the soil a bit so that hopefully most of this rain was able to soak in well. My garden is grateful for the added moisture, I'm sure.

We had a steady rain today and yesterday and I left tuna cans out to measure. I had to empty them three times. It added up to about 5 inches in the last couple of days. Very happy about that. We only had 10 inches all together, since April. Really needed it!

From what I understand, a heat wave is next on the menu.

Since Sunday we have gotten 6" of rain.

Apparently patty pan squash love to grow when it is raining and in the 60's. I picked everything on Saturday. Lo and behold, today I had 2 flying saucers!

Yesterday my son and I were playing a board game, when both of us said, "What's that noise?" It had been so long since we had a good, soaking rain that we almost forgot what it sounded like. Odd.

It's very nice to survey the beds today and not see desperately drooping hydrangea. Hopefully the leaves will stop turning color on the trees.

That was sheer bliss yesterday. Sheer bliss.
