I think Walgreens had a sale on multicolored plastic planters, Ocean State Job Lot had a sale on ceramic ones for a while, but the prices weren't that low. Dollar Tree had a sale on big plastic plots.

Thanks Ed -- I appreciate it. I'll have to check those stores out! I'm often looking for plastic planters, but this time around, I'm looking for something that has fiberglass in it to keep it from cracking in the cold weather. I've had styrofoam which is lightweight but really stands up to the weather, but, I just don't want to buy styrofoam again.

I bought plastic sand buckets last year at Dollar Tree and the buckets cracked during the winter while sitting on a storage shelf. Sorry, but I'm not a dollar store fan on some things. Ocean State had garden planters at 40% discount at back of store a few weeks ago. Christmas Tree shop is another place but doubt they have an garden things this time of year. Sometimes I luck out at a craft store and use a 40% off coupon. Check Lowe's and Home Depot for clearance items.

Thanks defrostâ¦two of my best containers I got at Joann Fabrics of all places, when they had a 50% off sale, but I've not had good luck there since. :-) I forgot about Christmas Tree Shops too, but you're probably right about not having anything right now.

pm2, fwiw, a huge amphora-type fiberglass urn i bought at Home Goods 10 yrs ago- did crack one winter even though it was off the ground and had nothing planted in it. (Maybe it was an older fiberglass formula and today's have a mix of fiberglass and crushed stone....) Make sure to put yours upside down above the ground, on something.
