| My "autumn spirit" camellia finally bloomed yesterday. It seemed like a very long wait. The flower buds formed in August and it was amazing how slowly they opened. The buds showed a little pink color for about 2 weeks and then finally it decided the time was right. But it was worth the wait. Not bad for halloween! |

| Nice bloom! And we have some fairly mild weather for the next several days. My "Snow Flurry" has about a dozen blooms open now and there are maybe 200+ buds still waiting. With luck most of them will open before any really cold weather. It's a gamble with camellias in our zone. We have to hope that the fall bloomers will open early and that we get a mild autumn, or that the spring bloomers are bud-hardy and bloom later when the weather is better. But either way I think it's worth growing them. And anyway the foliage is always nice and green year round. |
