Am I too late?

Back in June, I dug up a huge clump of daffodils so I could thin them and transplant them. There are easily 100 bulbs in that clump. Here it is 4 months later and that huge clump of bulbs is still sitting on the edge of my garden. I have yet to extract the bulbs from the surrounding dirt.

I don't have time to deal with these daffs today or tomorrow. And then we are headed on vacation for a week. I'm a bit concerned about the potential for frost while we are gone.

Am I going to loose these bulbs? Can I plant them when I get back? Should I dry them off and save them for next fall? Any ideas?

FWIW - I'm just west of Boston.
