My local Agway (3 central NH locations) has a sale on preordered bird seed. It includes black oil, but not safflower. Perhaps if there are Agways near you they might have something similar.

I think NH Audubon does a preseason preorder sale also. Might MA Audubon?

Hi Babs, thanks for that suggestion. You are lucky there in NH that you have so many Agways near you. I have one that is not in the most convenient location, but I did check and they are having a 'stock up' sale on birdseed.

But no safflower. I wonder why that is not more popular since the squirrels basically ignore mine. So I have two feeders, one is squirrel proof that gets the sunflower seed, but the one that is not gets the safflower.

PM2, since I started having bears as neighbors, I no longer feed the birds. Pre-bears I fed black oil sunflower.

Yes, I guess that would put a crimp in your bird feeding. At least it saves you some money. [g] About the only thing we have to contend with are squirrels. We did see a possum in the garden a few times lately, but no deer and no bears, but then again, I don't have your lovely vistas either.
