Wonderful project, Hilda. I think this will become an amazing "Welcome!" to all the runners and to anyone who visits this part of the Marathon route. There is something about daffodils that lifts the spirit ---- maybe because they appear so brave and upright after our long New England winters.

It's a great project - a similar thing was done in NYC after 9/11 and they now estimate Ten years after 9/11 more than 10 million yellow daffodils bloom in remembrance.

The Boston Marathon route is the perfect place for remembrance daffodils.

Daffodils are truly amazing plants. I can attest to their vigor. Many years ago I planted about 25 of one prolific white variety. In time these spread. I finally lifted some up out of the ground one spring after they had flowered --- tossed the bulbs, with greenery and faded flowers attached, in plastic shopping bags. I gave a few hundred away to friends and neighbors. It's kind of neat to see these bulbs still growing in my neighbor's yards.
