Bark Mulch and Snow Blower

Posted by syd81 Southern NH (My Page) on

I have recently landscaped my house. I now have bark mulch in an area I used to clear with a snow blower. It's a path to my oil tank inlet. Is there something I can put over the mulch this winter so that the snow blower will not dig into the mulch? I'm afraid to put anything too light weight down for fear of pulling it into the snow blower. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thx!

This should not be a problem. You don't have to put anything down. Just snowblow enough to leave a light layer of snow--couple of inches--on top of the mulch. This will freeze and make a solid path--tho a bit slippery. We do this--snowblow on grass and mulch to make some needed paths. Throw some sand down as needed.
