Richie, I saw robins last week! I was so surprised I actually dug out my husbands binoculars so I could see across the yard and be sure. Yep. Robins. I was wondering what they were doing here at this time of year!

Haven't seen a robin lately, but I did see a bluebird about 3 weeks ago. Went searching and found an excerpt from a radio show in 2006 on New Hampshire Public Radio.(below)
Seems as long as there is adequate food, robins will hang around.

I see robins occasionally in the winter, and saw one this morning. They come here when the winterberry fruits are ripe and strip the tree. There was a gang of sixteen last week on the winterberry. I'll sometimes see them in the woods (there's a pond nearby with wild winterberries).

Robins on 12/22/09, just in time for the local Christmas Bird Count.

Robins are pretty much like Canada Geese, they only go as far south as necessary. It's funny seeing them in winter (had one here at my place in West Haven 2 weeks ago) as they look so out of place.

A robin came back today, but I don't think the berries are quite en pointe yet. It didn't stay long. It looked well-fed and will probably come back to check the berries again.
