Generally speaking Mother Nature knows what she's doing so I normally don't concern myself with what's happening in the garden this time of year and, chances are, neither do the plants. They do what light, temperature and moisture triggers them to do. I can't say I've noticed new growth on much of anything other than the buds on my Hellebore/Lenten roses but even if I saw new growth I wouldn't be concerned, having faith in Ma Nature to handle things most of the time with little, if any, help from me. The calendar reminds me this isn't spring so I just don't worry about what the garden is up to.

Most daisies seem to be evergreen. There are a fair number of plants that overwinter green basal rosettes that we don't usually pay any attention to because they are either buried under snow, or we are buried under blankets in the house.

Even the sedum has buds coming up from the ground... this can't be normal for the first week of winter.

Yikes.

Sedum is one we don't cut down in the fall since it tends to look good/stay alive through the winter.

I have lupine plant although very small looks like it has been untouched by the cold. After we cut it back awhile ago it continued to grow and looks great.
