It depends on the type of persimmon you are trying to grow. The American Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana)is native to the eastern US as far north as extreme SW Connecticut near the shores of Long Island Sound. It is a southern tree as far as nature is concerned, but it is hardy to zone 5b. This is the only type of persimmon that stands a chance in your cold location. It is a small/medium sized tree, growing to a height of about 25 feet. You might be better off purchasing a small established tree and planting that, rather than putting out tiny seedlings.
