New to Gardening

a potted hydrangea how to plant outside zone 9

hello I received a potted white hydrangea as a b/day gift and I have to plant it outside but am nervous as I have never grown hydrangeas..... I am in zone 9 (94510) but on the Bay in Northern Ca. It is somewhat windy here .. hot in summer and pretty cold in winter, lately (38- 40 at its coldest) can someone give me some direction?

I just planted mine in the ground as if it was a plant from the garden center. It's thriving.

You may want to accustom it to outdoors gradually as it probably came from a grower raising them in a glass house or shade house, but it shouldn't be any problem to grow and be big and happy.
