We recently moved to Miami, Fl and now I would like to start growing veggies, fruits, etc. on our balcony.
I've never planted or grown any plant before so I'm very new to this!

The problem might be, that our balcony faces north. It gets plenty of daylight, just no direct sun exposure.
I'm interested in growing herbs, tomatoes, a lemon or lime tree, but I'm open for any other suggestions!
It's a fairly big balcony, thats why I wanted to "sex" it up with some greens!!

As I said I'm very new to this, so I don't even know what kind of pots, soil or any other extras I should get for it and where.

That said, I'm afraid that you may need to have a reality check, darn it all. Most herbs, veggies, and fruit-bearing plants require what is called a 'full sun' exposure. In general terms, this means (at the very least) 6 hours of direct sunlight. More is better.

There are plenty of other kinds of plants that would do quite well in your situation, but I don't think that you will be putting much food on the table.
