Very new to gardening

I just purchased a house last fall. I planted Daffoldi and tulips in the fall and they now are blooming but they are thin. I realized that I should have put more bulbs. My friend told me that you can save all those bulbs and if it comes in two, split them up then store them in a cool area until this fall then we can use the bulbs..

I need some advice to do with my flower beds. I have no idea what to do with those but would LOVE to hear your idea of things that I should plant starting now and should last until this fall. I also planted azela on my side of the house and I hope that it will grow large to fill all the side but it seems not to be the case. Seems that I have to plant some more? Please take a look at this picture and tell me what you think I should do.

Thanks
