Bee Balm - Monarda didyma - how to divide?

| I have a friend who is looking to try and divide her bee balm plant. It has gotten too large for her small garden area. Does anyone have experience in "dividing and conquering" this plant or any similar? |

| When it comes to bee balm, dividing is far different than conquering. To divide, ram a sharp shovel into the ground to cut out a reasonable size piece, then move to desired site. To conquer, start digging and discarding, then continue until all is gone and none returns. (PS: That will take a while!) |
