bamboo

Hello.

On the property we bought there is a large cluster of bamboo - that most common of bamboo I'm sure (don't know the name).

We had a winter drought and now the bamboo looks dead. I suppose it will come back when watered since bamboo is hard to kill I've heard.

My question is this: I thought that it went dormant and that dormant plants don't need water ---- Where am I wrong?

thanx

RE: bamboo

Plants overwintering actually do need moisture. Also, yes, bamboo can be very hardy, though there are different varieties of bamboo. Some won't live up north at all some endure the coldest winters. By now this bamboo should be sending up new shoots. Water it and wait. You can can also try going to the Bamboo forum for further advice.

Good luck!
