I too live in New Haven , CT and I find it weird we both are having the same experiences. I was gardening the other day and almost tripped over a rock sticking out of the ground about 3 or 4 inches long.But the weird thing was I did not see it just the other day and I had been planting so I am sure I would have seen it. Just sticking out of the ground with mud all over the sides.

LOL, I searched "strange rock" because the EXACT SAME RIDICULOUSNESS is going on my yard right now... Also in Connecticut (Woodstock)... I was picking up after my dog this morning, and I noticed this weird hunk of rock - a little bigger than yours, about 6 inches tall, maybe 2" around - shooting up from out of the ground like some kinda plant or something. Now, my dog does his business in the same spot every morning, and I'll be d****ed if that rock was there yesterday. ALIENS?? LOL! Take me to the mother ship, I'm ready!

I was at my mother's place in Hartford this past weekend as she had asked me to help her lay some fertilizer down for her. I found a similar rock and after searching around for jagged rocks I came across this post and decided to post. I found a similar rock as about 2x2 inches in my yard and it looked like it had been squeezed up through the ground surrounded by some red dirt. Can anyone help me identify this? First time I've seen something like this in her yard.
