crape myrtle

i planted a 6 ft crape about 2 weeks ago. it was in a large pot. i have watered every other day. we have had a lot of wind. some of the leaves look dry.and some of the tiny branches are now broken, from the wind i guess. can i over water? we have clay soil.

Over watering is entirely possible in clay soil, especially if the site does not drain well. But only you can determine if the site is too soggy by getting down and feeling the root ball and the soil around it.
