reblooming irises

After my irises blom the first time. How do I get them to bloom again? Do I cut the stems off?

Unless they are certain cultivars, they won't!...I have one sent from Louisiana by a friend that will put out a few blooms in august....but as a rule, Iris and other bulbs bloom at their time and that's that.
