Forgot to water potted plants...

Looking for some advice, I bought two, big 2-gallon containers of Black-eyed Susan-Goldsturm Rudbeckia to plant in my back yard.

I left them behind my house in the sun and forgot to water them so they sat all yesterday in the sun. Last night I went to check them and ALL of the leaves and stems were wilted over. So I watered them and pulled them into the garage over night. They looked a little better this morning, so I gave them more water and kept them in the garage.

Any advice on what to do from here? I mean, I know I have to get them in the ground but I just haven't had time. Should I wait now until they look better? Keep watering? Get them back out in the sun? Thanks in advance!

Get them out of the garage into a shaded place. If it was only one day....they should recover....but getting them into the ground ASAP would help.

I would keep them in a shady spot for a day or two until they perk up well and then plant but only if you don't think you will forget to water again.

If you think that you might not water daily for the next couple days, then plant them in the soil now. You can put a "tent" over them after you plant them and shade them from the hotest part of the day. Sitting a cheap plastic stacking chair over the plant works well for me. Leave it for a day or two and then remove.
