Tree surrounded by bench and deck - what to do with stump?

We have a beautiful deck that the previous owners built around a huge oak tree, about 3' in diameter. The tree is located about four feet from the house, and drops all kinds of junk on the roof, deck, and yard all year long, including dead branches! One of our yearly projects has been to have the tree removed -- thank goodness! Our concern now is that the stump is encircled by this deck and a beautiful built in circular bench, therefore cannot be ground down by a stump grinder - unless we pull off the deck and reconstruct - no thanks! So does anyone think that termites will infest this stump? If we use the nitrogen to kill it, will the chemical also keep termites away? Since this tree is only four feet from the house, as you can imagine, we are concerned about our options!
Thanks for any advice from anyone out there!!

I really doubt you will have a termit problem. Are you trying to get rid of the stump? There are products that you drill holes into the stump and add the product helps it decompose quicker.Or buy a large planter to sit on the stump and plant it with drapping annuals that would look nice also.

Is the tree already down? If not, ask the tree cutter to leave a six to 10 foot high stump and apply tree killer to the cut top. You can then grow vines up the stump, hang ornamental pottery on it, put a bird hose on top, put garden sculpture on top .....

If the stump is low, apply tree killer(to prevent root shoots) and put a table top on top or a bird bath on top or a planter on top .....
