Best advice you ever got on Garden Web?

Mine was.....

"Remember that over time you will grow and evolve as a gardener. You may change your mind about some of the things you think you like right now."

I liked it because

It was the gentle but clear. (Not at all snarky)
It was very true. (Good heavens, just read some of my early posts. I've learned so much about native plants now, I shudder to think of some of the things I said a few years ago.)

I thought this forum might be a nice place to say thanks to that person- even though I don't remember her name) and invite others to share.

Use a good spell checker and/or be very careful not to sound like a student. Some purists will flame one for not spelling correctly or for sounding like a student.

Best or worst advice?? LOL!
"There are more than 4 kinds of hosta...buy a couple of others and see what it does for your shade beds."
"Toss some alfalfa meal into your beds. It contains an amazing plant stimulator."
"Mix some organic rye flour with some filtered water and leave in a warm place and you will soon have your own starter going which will make the most wonderful bread."
"Make your own dog food. Your dog will be healthier and happier and it's very easy."
"Put some grape jelly out to attract orioles"
You see the Garden Web has many forums.

albert, I'd like to make a comment about your post. It worries me that gardenwebbies might think that a gentle correction of the spelling of a plant name is done with unkind intentions. I will make a point of giving someone the correct spelling, because it can be important in looking information up, or in pronouncing a plant correctly, or in asking for that plant at a nursery. I can't imagine anyone being put off by that kind of correction.

Now, if you're talking about general spelling (or grammer, for that matter)....I'd get a bit irked about that, lol. Especially since I'm terrible about typos, myself!

I believe that we are ALL students here. There are never any silly questions nor can any basic question be asked too many times. Patience, kindness, as well as the spirit of sharing information and knowledge is the prevalent theme in all of the forums that I frequent.

I think that one of the most beneficial things I've learned is about Neem oil and it's many uses. I am also AMAZED when I go into the 'Name This Plant' Forum, where there are so many terrific identification experts.
