Pretty much any shrub, tree etc will be fine. Rememeber they will need watering all winter through.

For St Aug, I would put that off to late spring of the following year. The reason is that St Aug will probably be dormant by november and it will be fairly hard to tell if the sod is surviving in a dormant state or just dead. If you wait untill spring, it will be easy to tell if you are giving it too much water or too little. It also is a high growth period so it will establish faster. Instead, overseed the area with annual rye in November. It will be nice and green all winter. In the spring, kill it off and lay the sod or plugs.
