Scattering grass seed

| Hey there!
I bought some tall fescue grass seed for some bare patches in the lawn, and once planted, it came up beautifully...arguably even better than the surrounding lawn. (Okay, so the grass seed isn't the same species as the lawn...oh well.) I got inspired, and decided to scatter more seed generally around the lawn, particularly in similarly barren or yellowed areas (we're definitely in a drought here in Denver), just to see what happens. The lawn is watered 3x/week, in early morning. So what do you think? Did I waste a bit of seed here, or is there a possibility it might actually begin to grow in amongst the grass that's not doing so well? |

| Around here, we call that "overseeding" and do it deliberately in early spring or late fall. No guessing on the survival rate of your experiment since time of year, type of grass, and optimum sprouting temperature would all affect the outcome. However, if it is the right kind of grass for your area and it does sprout and grow, I wouldn't call that a waste of seed :-) |
