| This is just a general wondering, but if tomato plants without stakes bend to the ground, and the fruit bruises and grows soft because its touching the ground, how did they grow in the wild successfully before we started growing them commercially?
Its a strange question, but if anyone has information i would appreciate it! -Kat |

| Wild tomatoes are very small. The stems are long and wiry. True wild ones usually have narrow leaves that are quite far apart on the stems. They also usually use other plants for support. |

| Ever seen fields of commercially grown tomatoes? They have no support....but they are a variety designed to be firmer and stand handling.....and presumably some of them lying on the ground. Linda C |
