Someone said they use a Brother-P Touch Labeler for making plant markers. I am interested to know where they bought it and how much it cost.

Diane, I don't remember where I bought my Brother GL 100 Garden Labeler - I searched online and ordered by the best price. Amazon has it right now for $35 and that's in the ball park of what I paid about 4 yrs ago, give or take a dollar or two. I'm not sure I would have bought it for just my own use, but I grow quite a bit for friends and family and occasionally sell plants.

I get the clear, black print tape at Staples for use on different colored labels, then nothing showing but the print.

Here is a link that might be useful: Brother GL 100

I had a Brother PT-80 that I had gotten for a ridiculously low price and tried using that, which had the standard white tape. After 1 year in the garden, it faded, totally unreadable. I just recently purchased Brother PT-1010 that uses "outdoor" tape. I got this one too at a ridiculous price of $14.99 from buy.com (it's now $38 but $30 at Amazon). Anyway, I did print a few labels out to test if it's outdoor worthy or not, so I can't fully recommend it at the moment :(
