white fungus on avocado

I have a young Haas avocado tree which has loads of fruit on it for the first time, but now there is a white fungus growing on a damaged section of a branch. I am using a fungicide, but am thinking it might be better to cut the branch off as the fungus seems to be appearing up above the worst spot - but there is some showing up minorly on the fruit all over the tree. Any advice?

Here are several suggestions.

You might check the info for home gardens about bacterial canker at the University of CA.

A more extensive version of the same info, but for agricultural growers.

Oh, oh. Just found this about a nasty fungal problem, Dothiorella canker. This one sounds more like what your tree may have because it can attack woody parts and fruits.
