| About 5 years ago, I purchased a Vernal Witch hazel shrub which was planted by the nursery. I was told that it would have a profusion of yellow flowers in the spring. I have never seen ANY. The shrub seems to be perfectly healthy otherwise. I'm in zone 5 and the shrub is planted at the southwest corner of the front yard about 6 feet from the porch. It receives early afternoon sun. When I look up this shrub on the internet I find that it should actually have feathery ? blossoms from late winter to spring with some kind of seed pod that explodes. I'd like to see all this. What am I doing wrong? |

| Perhaps someone can come up with some cultural advice, but most trees require that wood reaches a certain ontogenetic age before it will flower. It's entirely possible your tree/shrub is still in juvenile phase. This is more likely if your tree was grown from seed or if it was propagated from young stock. Al |
