Generally speaking, light pollution affects wildlife and people more than it does plants. Attached is an interesting article.

But to answer your other question, plants absolutely must have darkness in order to grow and develop properly. However, your security light, though maybe irritating to neighbors and birds (LOL), does not provide light in the right wave lengths to put plants out of whack.
